A rapidly growing recycling business based in the Midlands has invested in Hiab heavy-load handling equipment to help drive forward its ambitious expansion plans.

A&A Recycling Services is associated with the A.W. Jenkinson Group, which operates nationally; it delivers a complete wood waste management service and recycles the waste into biomass fuels, materials for the construction sector and animal bedding.

Two new MULTILIFT hookloaders installed onto Volvo FMX 8x2 chassis will expand A&A Recycling Services’ fleet which includes a range of 44-tonne vehicles with up to 85 specialist trailers.

Alan Pepper, Transport Manager for A&A Recycling Services, said: “The waste industry has remained incredibly busy throughout the pandemic and is expected to grow further. As a business we want to make sure that we’re able to meet this growing demand.”

“These are our first eight-wheelers so before investing in these two new MULTILIFT hookloaders we made a detailed assessment of quality, longevity and efficiency of the product.”

“We also needed to recruit drivers to operate the new hookloaders. The availability and simplicity of Hiab’s training materials really stood out to us - when you’re investing in training you want resources that help save you time, but still give new drivers all the information they need. Hiab offered a decent well-rounded package.

“I have already seen the benefits of fuel efficiency thanks to the engine speed settings for the PTO and our drivers have been taken aback by the speed of operations. This investment gives me the confidence that we can continue to respond to customer demand quickly.”

Dek Butler, MULTILIFT product specialist for Hiab, said: “Our specialist hookloaders are made for managing waste materials and provide an agile solution for tight spaces and challenging working environments, which is ideal for businesses like A&A Recycling Services.

“I’m really pleased our MULTILIFT hookloaders have already proved popular with the drivers and the business is already seeing the benefits of fuel efficiency.

“At Hiab we’re focused on promoting sustainable operations, so we’re really pleased to be working closely with A&A Recycling Services who play a major role in wood recycling across the region.”
