“It is really rewarding to know I am making a difference to our customers while doing work that I genuinely enjoy."

Kevin has been a Field Service Technician at Hiab since October 2011. Attracted by the excitement of working with cranes, he joined Hiab to take on a role that was both new and different from his previous experience.

“Back when I was considering job offers, I had a choice between two roles, but the field service position here at Hiab really drew me in. The idea of working with cranes was exciting, and I loved the thought of doing something different every day. I hadn’t done field service work before, so it felt like a great opportunity to expand my skills and dive into something new.”

Kevin’s day typically starts early to ensure he arrives at the customer’s location by 7am. He always spends a few moments to connect with the customer, checking in on how their equipment is performing and how their business is going. “This personal connection is important to me, as it helps build trust and strong relationships with the people I support,” he says.

After this check-in, Kevin dives into his work, whether it is routine maintenance, a repair, or another scheduled task. Once the job is complete, he either heads home or moves on to his next location, depending on the day’s schedule.

“One of the things I enjoy most about my job is the independence it offers and the opportunity to work outdoors. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities, and there’s no repetitive routine. Sometimes I even get called for emergency repairs or to address breakdowns on-site, so there is always something different happening. I also get to meet new people all the time, which keeps things fresh and interesting. It’s really rewarding to know I am making a difference for our customers while doing work that I genuinely enjoy."
